Use your legendary partner for more than just exploration!
The legendary Pokémon of Scarlet and Violet, Koraidon and Miraidon, have many unique traits. Perhaps the most unique thing about them is how they join your team very early on but are unable to battle alongside you. This is similar to mounts in Legends: Arceus, but unlike those, you’ll eventually be able to use these legendaries in fights. You’ll need to get very far into Scarlet and Violet if you want to use Koraidon and Miraidon to battle other Pokémon, so you had better be ready for a very lengthy journey.
When Can Players Use Koraidon and Miraidon to Battle Others in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
You can only use the legendary Pokémon in battle after reaching the very end of the main story. This means clearing all three story paths and defeating their final bosses in addition to clearing what comes after that. After a series of events, you’ll be able to use your version-exclusive legendary in full, starting with something akin to a practice battle that will help you get used to Koraidon’s or Miraidon’s power. After clearing this event, you’ll even be able to find a second Koraidon or Miraidon, allowing you to easily trade for the opposite version’s Pokémon.
Koraidon is a Fighting/Dragon-type while Miraidon is an Electric/Dragon-type. They each have similar stats and abilities, though the former specializes in physical attacks while the latter is meant for special attacks. They both have unique moves that deal more damage on super effective hits, and their abilities will trigger a weather or terrain effect while also boosting their most proficient attacking stat. Simply put, both Koraidon and Miraidon are incredibly powerful, living up to their status as legendary Pokémon. You’ll certainly want to take advantage of their strengths after beating the game, especially if you’re taking on Black Crystal Tera Raids with them.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are Nintendo Switch exclusives.
